Burton Open

Worth the trip?

This weekend 22nd and 23rd May is our FF open, and you may be wondering if it is worth the effort in attending.Well apart from the fantastic waters, good for inland steady winds, great race courses, friendly fleet, open spaces, and home-cooked food. Take a look at our magnificent Flying Fifteen Burton Open Trophy.Presented to Burton Sailing Club  by Paul and Sue Amos. Amos was a local boat builder who built many FF's up in Swadlincote. In fact, FF2864 is one of them, as are many others in our club. First awarded in 1982 it was last won by a burton boat, in 2003. Since then it has been out of the club with Dovestone SC holding it for eight years on the trot and since then three other crews having the honour of placing it in their club houses. So no pressure on the burton boats who will be going all out to bring it home so that we can all admire it. FF Fleet Captain
