- If, at any specific Championship, insufficient races are completed to constitute a series at the event (according to the Notice of Race for the event), that event will not be included as part of the Championship Series scoring.
- Entrants and Eligibility
- Any helm who competes in any of the Championship Events, and is a fully paid-up member of the UKFFA prior to the event, is also an Entrant in the Championship Series.
- For the avoidance of doubt, the helm is the Entrant and may sail with different crews and in different boats at Qualifying Events, and at the 2025 World Championship event.
- Specific further entry requirements (measurement certificate, insurance, etc) are specified in the Notice of Race for each Qualifying Event.
- Championship Series Scoring
- The final placings in each Qualifying Event will be used to construct a points table for all Entrants in the Championship Series Scoring.
- To be awarded a position in the Championship Series, a helm must sail (and not just enter) at least the Number of Events to Count.
- The Number of Events to Count will be 50% of the Qualifying Events included in Championship Series Scoring (see 1.2), rounded up.
- If an Entrant competes in more than the Number of Events to Count, their worst placing(s) will be discarded.
- An Entrant who does not compete in the Number of Events to Count will not be given a position in the final Championship Series Scoring.
- Championship Series Divisions
- Prior to commencement of the Championship Series, potential entrants (helms) will be placed in one of three Divisions: Red, Blue and Green.
- The principal method for allocating helms will be based on Bradley Terry model ranking results based on the equivalent five Championship events in 2023 and 2022, where the helm has competed in at least six races. In limited cases, the UKFFA Committee may override anomalous ranking results that are inconsistent with assessed performance.
- Helms who enter the Championship Series at any point during 2024 but have not sailed six counting UKFFA Championship races in 2022-23, will be allocated to a Division by the UKFFA Committee based on past performance in the Flying Fifteen or other classes.
- The 2024 division allocations will be as follows:
Red Division: top ~30% helms from 2022-23, plus UKFFA allocated entrants
Blue Division: next ~30% helms from 2022-23, plus UKFFA allocated entrants
Green Division: all other helms, plus UKFFA allocated entrants
- Prizes and Ranking
- Results from the Championship Series will be used to create a Divisional National Ranking Table and an UKFFA 2025 Worlds Qualifier Ranking Table. These will be updated and published after each event.
- At the end of the Championship Series, prizes will awarded for 1st place positions in each Division. The Series Prize-giving will be held at the final event of the Championship Series.
- At the completion of the Championship Series, the UKFFA Qualifier Ranking Table will be used for the allocation of places in the UKFFA team for the 2025 World Championship.
- For the avoidance of doubt, Red, Blue and Green Division allocations and the UKFFA Bradley Terry helm ranking model will not affect the allocation of places for the World Championship.
- Helms Divisions for the 2025 UKFFA Championship Series will be based on 2023 and 2024 UKFFA Championship races.
