An excellent turnout of 50 boats for the Flying 15 northern championship, after high winds over the last couple of days, were greeted with plenty of sunshine and a mirror like lake, with a forecast of F1 from the east.

2024 is a worlds qualifying year for the Flying 15 class and not surprisingly, a large and high quality fleet of 40 boats turned up at Grafham to find the sun shining and some wind blowing.

Principal Race Officer Nigel Denchfield told the assembled sailors at the briefing to expect some possible windshifts on the race course- how right he was!

So that’s the first Championship event done, and what an event it was. 57 boats entered for the Southerns at Parkstone last weekend, a remarkable number for a weekend open.
