The Lakeland Grand Prix was an idea that arose out of a few discussion with a number of local sailors in the area, something along these lines. "Why don't we have a series based around the lakes; we can sail a two day event on someone else's water and still stay in our beds at night". "There are some good sized fleets in the immediate locality, no problem"
In response to this we created, or at least I coined the phrase Lakeland Grand Prix; stealing the idea from the Lasers. Never let a good idea unused so here we are.
The rules are a construct of my own making so no complaints but I'm happy to change things for next year if you wish, open to suggestions. I've tried to keep it simple - Lakeland events to count - three only this year Windermere, Bassenthwaite & Ullswater, all have good sized fleets, plenty of space and are popular venues. I am working on the basis currently of no discards, but am open to persuasion for next year. Also Northern clubs only and I'm the arbiter of these matters (self appointed, its the best way!) so the chaps from Blackpool, Dovestone & the North East can come play (again open for discussion for next year). So three events three to count, low point scoring. Results table attached.
We are heading into the last event at Ullswater this coming weekend so best of luck folks; there is even a trophy; to be revealed at Ullswater when we will do the presentation.
