For Sale Small Print / Posting Instructions (or Video)

If Posting this is the small print

We really appreciate the regular use of the second hand listing pages and we’ve been working hard to ensure that this is easy to use and gives a quick response.

However we’d like to remind you that a little bit of patience is required with these new features, if you upload an advert it WILL NOT appear immediately even if you have paid by card.  This because a HUMAN, not a computer needs to approve your advert.

So if your advert doesn’t appear immediately, please don’t up load another. It hasn’t appeared because it hasn’t been approved by one of the two or three HUMANS who do this!

Please note we do not deal with third party contracted web developers to place adverts on this site we only accept adverts from members or Flying Fifteen owners on these pages.

Thanks for listening

The management!

Posting Instructions (PLEASE READ)
  1. You need to be Registered on the site and logged in to be able to post an entry.
  2. Ensure that you have paid the fee HERE, otherwise the advert will not be approved and displayed.
  3. Ensure you are logged in on the Add a Boat page.
  4. Enter a Title and Sub-title for your article.
  5. At the category section you need to select both the Items for Sale main category AND a sub-category in the Organize section below that matches what you have for Sale.
  6. The Summary section should be kept brief and reflect the main details of your advert. This will appear on Facebook and the Home Page.
  7. The Article Details should repeat the Summary information and also include your contact details. If you have created your advert in WORD, please use this feature in the top menu bar Paste From Word button and select the "paste from Word" option otherwise what you see may not reflect what you intended. If you wish to have an image in the body of the text, we can add it in for you or if you feel competent then use the edit window to achieve this.
  8. Images go in the Gallery Panel section. Click the Add a Gallerybutton and then "drag and drop" the images you are using into the indicated space. You should select the image you wish to appear on Facebook and the Home Page using the "Set as main article image" button against the required photo.
  9. Finally, when you have entered all the information and your advert is ready to be published click on Request for Approval and the advert will be sent for Approval.  We automatically add an expiry date at 6 months after the date of publication.  If you require the advert to stay on or be re-submitted please advise us.

President's Letter for February

Bill's thoughts at the start of a big year for the Class

We are just a couple of weeks away from the RYA Dinghy Show at Farnborough, and as usual there will be a Flying Fifteen stand at the show. In fact, with new boat registrations up this year, and plenty of interest in the class, we’re also expecting to see Fifteens featuring on one or two trade stands this year, showing off the latest kit and fit-out ideas.

And on the class stand? Well if the stars align, and with a following wind, we should have something a bit different this year. Intrigued? Come along on February 22/23 and find out…!
The reason for all this interest in the class, of course, is coming up in August this year. The venue is the WPNSA, Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour, for a two-week event including: the UK National Championship, World Championship and International Championship.

If you entered the qualifying series last year, and have been successful in securing a place, you should already have heard from us. Please confirm as soon as possible that you wish to take up the place. If you don’t get a place in this initial allocation, there’s still a chance to qualify through the UK Nationals.

But even if you don’t qualify for the Worlds, you can still come and enjoy 2 weeks of Flying Fifteen sailing by entering the International Championship. This will be sailed in parallel with the Worlds, on the more sheltered water of Portland Harbour, and is ideal for Classic and Silver boats as well as open fleet boats. Entry will open on 1 March, and if you plan to enter the International Championship please do so as early as possible or let me (or anyone on the UKFFA committee) know now, as this is important for the event planning. For more information, come and speak to us at the Dinghy Show, or see the Notice of Race on the WPNSA website.

One final point on the Worlds. Shipping boats around the world for events like this is getting more and more difficult, and some of our friends in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and elsewhere have enquired about borrowing boats. If you have a competitive boat that you don’t plan to sail yourself, and are willing to help, please get in touch.

That’s all for now, see you at the show at the end of the month!

Bill Chard,
GBR 4069
