Flying fifteen tuning
Started by Agustin Cruz
Hello I have got one doubt about mast rake and rig tension If you tension the shrouds with the jib halyard the mast goes backwards and the mast rake varíes Is not right On PInnell BAx tuning guide the neutral position means a straight mast without prebend How can you adjust both 27 rig tension and 7540mm of mast rake without bending the mast Is there any way of changing rig tension settings on the water Would be extremely useful some specific flying15 video showing how to tune the rig...

Help with setting up a Flying Fifteen
Started by Robert Wyman
Hi, hope I am writing this in the appropriate post. I am building a Flying Fifteen 4034(flyingfifteenpacific.blogspot.com/) in Hawaii and I would like to know if there is anyone I could speak with by phone on setting it up. I have a calling card to reach the UK. I have never actually seen a flying fifteen and I am left to search photos to understand the configuration of controls. I am planning to order a Selden Alto mast/boom with Goacher main/genoa sails and to setup with basic controls. I...

Jockey Wheel for F15
Started by Deleted User
I want to fit a jockey wheel to my F15 trailer. Most of the ones I see on the net say they are for caravans - it seems they are the same thing - or are they My question is - what type of jockey wheel should I buy to be able to support the F15 trailer. Some have nose weights of 150kgs, others 300kgs - any advice would be appreciated. Also should I buy one with a pneumatic wheel or a solid one (it's not for road towing - it's for pulling/pushing to the hoist to launch. Thank you.

Photos / diagrams to help with setting up old Flying 15
Started by Deleted User
Hi - I've just come into possession of a fairly old Flying 15, and wondered if anyone had any pictures, diagrams or instructions on how to rig and set it up properly (or suggestions for links) I'm assuming the kicker attaches to the lip on the plate above the keel, but other than that I'm pretty much guessing... Thanks!

Spinnaker Cleat Turrets
Started by lee williams
Does anyone know if you can buy the wooden turrets that the spinnaker cleats sit on just by the twinners and shrouds I don't have these on my Mk4 and think they will help the crew massively with controlling the pole.

I'm about to have an FF refurbished. She is a composite Windyback mark 4. The boat will be gutted to a shell . What would be the plan for re-decking and fitting new bulkheads. Half bow tank or full bow tank Double floor or floor to include a buoyancy tank. I would like to include a spinnaker shute. Suggestions Please. Regards Alan Williams FF 2986.

Redeck and a modern layout
Started by alan williams
Hi I've been given a back of the dinghy pound FF. She is a Windybank 4 composite decked by Naylor. This boat was left 5years and the decks and tanks are now rotten and requiring replacement. Will I need to have the boat stiffened If I remove the cross bracing for the traveller and fit a consul and take out the false floor. Would it be allowed to fit a full hight bow tank with a trough on the port and starboard sides. Thanks Alan

Spinnaker Pole Height
Started by lee williams
Can someone offer some advise on what may be wrong with my pole height adjustment, If I set it so that the pole will launch just below the horizontal then I have nowhere near enough slack to stow the pole at the end of the run. The system I have to live with at present is to fit the pole with the end lying on the foredeck, the crew then pulls up loads of slack on both sides (its led 2 ways) while I pull the spinnaker halyard. At the end of the run I drop the spinnaker then have to quickly releas...

Center Console Conversion
Started by lee williams
I am thinking of converting my boat to a center console, it's a Mk 4 Windebank so currently has the wooden cross member with everything mounted to that. Is it a difficult conversion and can anyone offer any tips/ advise, I don't know whether to buy an off the shelf console or make one myself from GRP/ Carbon. Also my boat has floor tanks, I am considering removing these as part of the install, is that a good idea

Difference between open fleet boat models
Started by lee williams
I have been wondering about the difference between the open fleet boat models available on the used market and how they compare speed and quality wise, obviously the Ovington Mk9 and 10 are well known and very well regarded but how do the Coryn, Dingwall and Windebank Mk10's compare would they be competitive at club and open event level What are the construction techniques used in each and are they as durable as the Ovington boats Cheers Lee

Soft Decks on Mk4 Windebank
Started by lee williams
Hi all, after some general advice, I have a Mk 4 Windebank that I bought very cheap, after fitting some newer sails the boat has turned out to be very good and great fun to race, only issue I have is some of the fiberglass, mainly on the foredeck and tops of the bouyancy tanks inside have gone soft and you can feel and hear the grp cracking when standing on them. The main issue is the foredeck with the crew having to go up and unclip the painter. What would be the easiest way to remedy this wil...

Main sheet jammer alternatives?
Started by Mike Pearce
Hi all. Because I have trashed my rotator cuff shoulder muscles I am currently using a main sheet jammer mounted upside down so I can release the main sheet without having to lift it up while hiking hard. This works well... up to a point. It is very easy to tread on the main sheet and accidentally uncleat it during a tack leading to mayhem coming out of the tack. Does anyone know of any alternative systems that might solve this issue Thanks Mike ----------------------------- 34...

Is it a West Lothian or English Question?
Started by Robert Pitts
A simple question really - we have a Scottish Championship but no English, Welsh or NI one - why The question comes into contrast really when the National Champs are also held in the same country. So this year we have two national championships in Scotland (I have no problem with this in fact welcome the move away from the more regular venues) but England, Wales and NI have no national championship between them. I am sure I know the answer to this and in many ways this posting is a li...
