03 December 2019 Webmaster 106 UK FFA Announcements Social Media posting Previous Article Southern Travellers 2019 It's not as easy as it looks! One of the reasons for the recent upgrade of the Association website was that the posting of News articles and Boats for Sale adverts were not being shown as previously (full photos etc.). We have used various tools to link the news items to Facebook and Twitter over the years, and as these organisations steadily increase their security levels we have had to adapt. We have just implemented a new direct connection for such posts from the website to these channels and this post will be the first to pass through this route. Also with the new website we have a totally new technology for posting news items on to the website. We hope this will prove easier for those posting boat adverts to use. The image handling is significantly better and can handle multiple images with ease. One consequence of this upgrade is that news items may appear multiple times on Twitter and Facebook. This is not an issue for Items for Sale as repeated exposure can only help. Similarly, for standard news items, a certain amount of duplication can help, just not too much. Please bear with the technical team as we learn how best to drive this new facility. Feedback on the new website is welcome and on the items that get posted to social media. We also know that the use of social media is not ubiquitous and that is where the email newsletter will provide supporting channels to reach both the Association Member and the wider sailing public.
