Even without a travellers series in Scotland this year it's still going to be a busy calendar for the Scottish crews.

To kick things off, Loch Lomond Sailing Club is the venue for two early season training weekends. Saturday the 8th and Saturday 22nd of March will see crews put through their paces with on the water coaching by Saturn Sails. This will be followed up with "refreshments" and a debriefing session in the clubhouse. There is no registration required for either of these days. A fee of £10 per day with a one off temporary membership of £5 to Loch Lomond Sailing Club can be paid on the day. Boats can be left at the club between weekends. There are several boats already signed up for what promises to be a really useful exercise and chance to catch up with old friends after a long and wet winter. A full report with pictures should hopefully follow each weekend.

There are several events on the calendar including the Round Shuna Weekend which sees the fifteens take on the best that the west coast of Scotland has to offer. Racing in a stretch of water that has the world famous Dorus Mhor whirlpools and the Gulf of Corryvreckan has to be on anyone's bucket list. Other events include East Lothian Sailing Club Regatta and the Marineblast Regatta at Holy Loch Sailing Club.

Rumours are circulating that several Scottish boats are going to be coming together for a number of raids across the border this season. Windermere, Bassenthwaite, Derwent Reservoir and Dovestone are all on the list. Some say that they are doing this to get more sailing in bigger fleets, others think that they may be looking for somewhere to relocate permanently following the vote! Either way, make sure your clubhouse bar is well stocked and the late licence has been applied for!
