Primary PY Now 1021

The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that the primary PY for the class has changed significantly to 1021 we have communicated with the RYA and received the following explanation which might help with the general understanding of the process.

"Looking at the numbers that have returned over the last few years. There was a steady trend in the reduction of data coming to us however In the last 2 years the number of returns has started to increase and the suggested number through our algorithm has been 1021 for the last 3 years. I would think the reason why it is a big jump this year is because we have had 3 years of the numbers pointing towards this change across a national level this gives us the confidence to make such a big change."

We are yet not entirely sure if the advisory classic and silver PY numbers should change at this stage but as these numbers are advisory and not official we would leave this u to sailing secretaries and those applying classic and silver PY's as to whether, after having time to analyse results in handicap racing, if these need changing
