Light and fluky winds tested the competitors at Glencoe Boat Club for the 2nd round of the Scottish Travellers Series.
With 2 races held on the Saturday, the 3rd cancelled due to lack of breeze, the fluky winds of Loch Leven proved difficult to predict for most boats with the lead changing all the time in each race. It was however, Graham and Dougie Campbell in Vedra who were to prevail in the tricky conditions to post wins in both races. Dan Challis and Kirsten Shaughenessy in Genisis pushed him all the way coming a close second with local boat Raven sailed by Dave Shepton and Davy Todd third.
As part of the Glencoe Boat Club Annual Regatta, Vedra was also judged to have given the best overall performance of the weekend and left with the Ballachulish Slate Trophy.
After 2 rounds, Dan Challis and Kirsty Shaughenessy in Genesis are still the boat to beat. The next event sees the competitors move out to the west coast and islands of Scotland for the Clyde Corinthian Yacht Club Round Shuna Weekend 28/29 August, where fast passage races are the order of the day.
