RWYC welcomed 3 visitors to its Flying 15 Open Meeting this weekend. The wind did not 'play ball' and the start on Saturday was delayed. Racing got under way 2 hours late in the light, variable north easterly winds, local boats Nigel & Gavin Tullett in Kiffs and John Atkinson and Elizabeth Moreton in Funny Enuff, led the way round the course, followed by Keith Jamieson & Mark Wilson in Getafix, it was Kiffs that narrowly won the first race. Race 2 was a much closer affair in a slightly more consistent breeze with David Brockbank and Janet Lefton in Five winning, Peter & Sue Bannister in Wavebreaker 2nd and the Tullets 3rd. Race 3, again saw Five take an early lead, only to go round a mark the wrong way and whilst completing his penalty was passed by Kiffs and Phil Snewin & Roz Coleman in Dragonfly. Sunday morning and the fleet enjoyed fresher north easterly wind - it was Five that took the early advantage in Race 4, keeping Kiffs and Dragonfly behind him. It was all down to the last race to find the overall winner, consequently in everyone's eagerness to get Race 5 underway, there was a general recall, once the race got underway it was Dragonfy that appeared to get away, only to find that he had been over the line and thus disqualified from Race 5, so it was Tullett due in Kiffs that won the final race and the overall event.
