2017 marks the 70th year of the flying fifteen class and it was fitting that at the Open meeting at Royal Windermere over the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd April a number of our historic boats joined their youthful sisters in this beautiful setting. There were 3 classics, the oldest being President Bobby Salmonds 61 year old Silver Fox sail number 202. She was joined by Graham Lamonds 617 Fettercairn built in 1962 and the Mckees 759 Flame a mere youngster of 53 years. All looked superbly presented and in the light to medium conditions were able to make a good account of themselves in the results.
These 3 classics were joined by the superbly restored silver boat Anemone sail number 3130 of Jordan Aspin.
If you own a classic or silver boat 2017 is as good a time as any to give her a sail, we hope to see many more of these wonderful boats out on the water this year.
