A big Thank You to this lovely club - we had great hospitality, superb boat lauch & recovery teams and well managed racing.
The Draycote Sprint Draycote are back with something different!
After a year’s absence from the open meeting circuit due to a variety of reasons but mainly low water levels (yes even Draycote with its 640 acre reservoir when full can suffer from a lack of rain!), we are please to confirm that we will be holding an open meeting this year, but with two new twists. Firstly it will be a one day event rather than the normal two day, and will be held on Saturday 20th October 2012. By, holding the event on the Saturday only, we are guaranteed full use of the reservoir as there is no club racing on Saturdays and thus be able to set excellent courses even if water levels are low.
Secondly, each race will be a ‘sprint’ race lasting only 45 minutes or thereabouts with as many races as possible being held on the day. There will be a cut off time for when the last race has to start by and with the number of races being undetermined, we expect this to give some additional excitement to the event. We are still working on the details such as type of course, start/finish lines, use of black flags etc, and these will be announced in due course but everything will be geared around exciting racing with plenty of overtaking opportunities and fast turnarounds between races. After racing, there will the usual prize giving and then a meal in the clubhouse with its fantastic views over the reservoir. And if that’s not enough, all competitors are invited to stay and take part in the club racing on the Sunday.
This will be the first event of its type seen on the Flying Fifteen circuit so please put the 20th in your diary and come and enjoy this new and unique event on one of the finest reservoirs in the Midlands. Watch this space for further details of the Draycote ‘Sprint’ Open Meeting.
